Indian political parties:

India is a democratic country and has the largest constitution in the world. There are a lot of political parties formed in India and they are recognized by the Election Commission of India “ECI”. These parties are categorized by the ECI as national or regional parties according to the status of political parties. ECI follows some criteria to declare the category of a political party according to the results in the assembly and parliament seats acquired in two consecutive elections. National parties of India:

National parties are stands for parties having organizations all over the country and have seats in both of the houses {Lok sabha & Rajya sabha} of India. Regional Parties of India:

Regional parties also known as the state parties in India stand for the party deemed to serve in a particular state of India. These parties participate in the state assembly elections especially to form a government as well as they are also allowed to participate in the Parliamentary elections. For recognized as a state party in India ECI sets some criteria to count as a state party in India, those are; the party must gain at least 6% of votes and a minimum of 2 states in the state assembly, The party must score at least 6% of polls in Lok Sabha election and must acquire at least a Lok Sabha seats, a party should win a minimum 3% of seats from the total number of seats, except it a party is recognized as a state or regional party if it earns minimum 8% of polls in the state elections.
